Greetings to all Stickmakers , North South , East, and West , and particularly West ! Following our most recent workshops in the South , in Abbeyside and Carrick on Suir we will be heading to Ballinrobe in Co. Mayo on Saturday the 14th of April 2012 for first workshop in the West of the country . And as always we extend a big welcome to one and all who may have an interest in the craft of stickmaking . The venue for this event is the Scout Hall in Ballinrobe , whose address is 25-39 Tower View , Ballinrobe , Co. Mayo . If you enter 25-39 Tower View into Google Maps you see an exact location for the Scout Hall . For those of you coming from the South or the Midlands I would suggest heading for Galway and taking theN84 from Galway to Headford and straight up to Ballinrobe . A big thank you to our Colleague Stephen Coffey who helped organise this venue for us through his association with the Scout Movement .For any of you that will be attending a stickmaking workshop for the first time there will be demonstrations on straightening sticks , bending horn, making dowels ,and working with antler .Not to mention loads of advice and tea , and nothing too serious ! Our Colleague John O’ Gorman of Southern Stickmaking Supplies will also be in attendance with an array of tools and materials for all your stickmaking needs . The workshop will commence around 11:00am and as always I ask you to bring a friend and a stick or two ;and enjoy what is proving to be a great day out whether you are a stickmaker or an admirer of the craft .Finally I would like to thank one of our new members , Paul Jones for organising our last venue in Carrick on Suir and which was a huge success for all who attended . Well done Paul ! I look forward to seeing you all in Ballinrobe. Robin O’ Reilly , Hon’ Sec’ Celtic Stickmakers Club.
