Workshop in Limerick

The Celtic Stickmakers Club will be holding a workshop and stick making demonstration in Limerick

Venue: Mr. John O’ Gorman’s workshop in Dooneen, Patrickswell Co. Limerick

Date: Saturday 24th November 2012

Time: Commencing at 11am and finishing at approximately 3pm

The workshop is open to all, both members and non-members. The only requirement is an interest in the craft of making sticks. On the day there will be demonstrations on the basics of stick dressing, from the methods of joining a shank to a handle, to straightening sticks and the techniques and tools involved in making your own stick.

We will also have demonstrations in various other techniques, such as the bending and use of buffalo horn, scrimshaw, pyrography and carving.

These workshops are an ideal way to learn the skills involved in a hands on way, and every assistance and encouragement will be given to beginners and aspiring stick makers. We would encourage everyone to bring some sticks on the day of the workshop.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the day. If you need instructions on how to get to the venue you can contact John O’ Gorman directly at 0871335100
